Privacy
The least data necessary.
Our data principle is the same as our decision principle: hold it in trust, show your work, and don't take more than the task needs. This notice says, plainly, what this website does and doesn't do with information about you.
What this site does not do
- No advertising, and no data shared or sold to advertisers or data brokers.
- No profiles built to identify you, and no automated decisions made about you.
- No third-party script loads until you choose — nothing from Google, or anyone, loads unless you accept the analytics banner. Decline, and this site sets no cookies at all.
- No cross-site advertising trackers, ever.
Analytics, and your choice
We measure how the site is used with two tools, and you control the second one:
- Vercel Web Analytics — first-party and cookieless. It counts page and publication views and referrers in aggregate, sets no cookies, and builds no identifier or profile. It runs for everyone because it cannot identify you.
- Google Analytics — a Google service that sets cookies and sends usage data to Google. It loads only if you accept the banner shown on your first visit. Decline, and it never loads and no analytics cookie is set.
We use both to learn which research is useful — never to identify you or to advertise.
What we collect, and when
Reading this site: nothing is collected by us. Our hosting provider (Vercel) processes standard technical request data (such as IP addresses) to serve pages and protect against abuse, as any host does; we do not use it to identify visitors.
Writing to us: if you use the contact form, we receive exactly what you type — your name, email address, optional organization, and message. It is delivered to our institutional inbox by our email provider (Resend) and is not stored in any database of ours. We use it for one purpose: replying to you.
Subscribing to updates: if you sign up for our newsletter, your email address is added to a mailing list held by our email provider (Resend), for the one purpose of sending you our updates. We store nothing else about you, every email carries a one-click unsubscribe, and you can ask us to remove you at any time.
Your choices, stored in your browser: your light/dark theme preference and your analytics choice are kept in your own browser (localStorage) and never leave it.
How long we keep it
Correspondence is kept as ordinary business email for as long as the conversation is relevant, then deleted. Ask us to delete a message thread and we will.
Your rights
Whatever your jurisdiction, we honor the substance of modern privacy law: ask us what we hold about you (usually: your emails to us, and nothing else), ask for a copy, ask for correction, or ask for deletion — through the same form. A person reads and answers these requests.
Changes
If our practices change, this page changes first, with a new date above. We will not add hidden tracking and update the policy quietly afterward — the policy moves before the practice does.
July 2026: we added analytics — cookieless Vercel Web Analytics for everyone, and Google Analytics that loads only with your consent — and launched an email newsletter. In keeping with this commitment, this notice was updated before any of it went live.
